SLEEVES & SLOPS: take away a sleeve using tips & tricks of pinking & slashing , and how to apply it to slops 3hrs
2. VICTORIAN CAMISOLE USING
HEIRLOOM SEWING: make a beautiful camisole to wear as an undergarment or top, using laces, entredeaux, pintucks embroidery
& ribbons. Application into other garments will be discussed. 4hrs
3. HISTORY OF THE APRON: you
will make a vintage replica apron suitable for yourself or as a gift. All eras
of aprons will be discussed. 4hrs
4. MAKING A RUFF BOARD &
RUFF: discussion on how to make your own ruff board. Boards also available for sale. As well, you will construct an Elizabethan
ruff. Various types of ruffs discussed. 3.5 hrs.
5. CLOWNOLOGY: a look at clowns
in history from all over the world. Clown costume tips & tricks. Choosing your character, pattern & accessories. Students will leave with info on clowning, resources and a hands-on balloon animal.

6. DYING TO KNOW: a close-up
demonstration of how to dye fabrics of different content using liquid & cold water dyes, tea & coffee. 1.5hrs
7. PIRATE TALK & EVENTS:
arrrrrrrh matey ! proper pirate speech & pirate events to attend. Class participation. 2 hrs.
8. DRESSING THE PIRATE: includes distressing techniques, historical/Hollywood/&cheap pirates…4hrs.
9. THE FRENCH HOOD: class will
focus on you making a French Hood with trimming techniques (not done with a sun visor) 2 hrs.
10. GODEY TODAY: how to pick today’s fabrics to create gowns from Godey’s You will learn to coordinate fabrics
& trims using what you bring and what’s available . 2.5hrs
11. VEGAS BABY! : wild & fun feathered headpieces, built from scratch to wear with your costumes. Class will finish
the headpieces. 2hrs.
12. THE CHEMISE & Partlet: who wears it with what. You will make a partlet during class. 4hrs.
13. MEN’S CLOTHING OF THE GOLD RUSH ERA: this lecture class will discuss work and dress clothing of the miners of
the Victorian Era in the USA. Resources
for pre-made & materials for making your own outfit are included 1hr.
14. RIBBON TRIMMING: ribbon folding techniques for creating intricate trims for costuming. You will create a sample study
board. 2hrs.
15. EXQUISITE RIBBON FLOWERS:students will create, using Helen Gibbs’ methods, a beautiful ribbon flower suitable
for hat or gown trimming. Various types of flowers will be discussed.
16. MAKING COSTUMES FOR PROFIT: includes theatre, rental, commissioned. Lecture and class discussion 2hrs.
17. OVERVIEW OF VINTAGE PATTERNS 1930-1960: 1 hr lecture
18. WHAT CENTURY IS THIS? & WHAT THEY WORE: learning what years span what century and identifying the clothing worn
in that century. Lecture 1.5 hrs.
19. WHAT’S IN A FROG? And
it’s not ribbits. Discussion of various frog closures & where to use them. You will make one of these many variations.
